Fragrance pricing is opaque. That is the whole opportunity.
A sixty dollar candle and a twenty dollar candle are often built from the same wax and similar oils. The difference you are paying for is usually the vessel, the boutique, and the name.
Ember & Main exists to make that comparison legible. For the candles we cover, we describe what they smell like, what the closest alternatives are, and what each maker publishes as a burn time, attributed to whoever published it. Cost per hour appears only where a comparable published price exists to work it out from.
We are not trying to convince you the expensive candle is a scam. Sometimes it is worth it. The point is that you should be able to see the trade you are making before you make it, which today takes an afternoon of reading forum posts.
How we make money
Today, nothing. Affiliate commission on links to retailers is the intended model, but no link on this site is monetised, so the site currently makes no money at all.
We do not sell candles, and we do not burn or test them. Every burn figure here is a number somebody else published, recorded against the source that published it.
